In 2014 James Dakin and Peter Eichmann left Morgan Stanley to set up Park Street Group, their own independent wealth management firm. The history of their partnership is:
– James and Peter met while both working as Investment Advisers at Merrill Lynch in Sydney. They quickly forged what has been an enduring partnership and friendship based upon shared values of honesty, integrity and transparency in dealing with clients.
– They both moved to Salomon Smith Barney (Citigroup) when Merrill Lynch closed its Australian based private-client business. All of their clients at Merrill Lynch moved across to Citigroup with them.
– James and Peter established the Park Street Group name for their business while at Citigroup, with the intention of clearly defining their wealth management offering. Their offices were at Citigroup’s head office in Park Street, Sydney.
– Elvis Santos joined the team from a private bank, in the role of a Senior Para Planner.
– Citigroup sold its global wealth management business, including the Australian division, via a staged sale to Morgan Stanley. James and Peter retained the Park Street Group name and all of their existing client relationships under the new Morgan Stanley ownership structure.
– Having worked in other roles within the firm for many years, Jodie van Loo joined the team as the Senior Client Service Administrator. Also, Morgan Stanley moved offices from Park Street to Chifley Square. The Park Street Group name was retained for James and Peter’s team to emphasise the continuity of their advice and services to their clients.
– The Park Street Group team left Morgan Stanley to operate under an independent Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL). Their offices are in the Australia Square building, Sydney. Many of Park Street Group’s clients today have been with James and Peter for over 10 years, since their early days at Merrill Lynch and Citigroup.
